Our Facilities

Our Gift shop sells books from Wild Swan and other publishers, a limited amount of modelling materials and kits, small gifts and items for our younger enthusiasts.

Our café sells light refreshments including tea, coffee, soft drinks, biscuits and confectionery.

Information for Disabled or Mobility-impaired Visitors

If your party includes disabled or mobility-impaired people, please discuss this with us at an early stage and we will do our best to help.

Pendon is a 30-90 minute viewing experience and most of our exhibits are at a height of about 1.4 metres (4ft 6in) above floor level. The view from a wheel chair is consequently restricted.

The Museum is on two floors. Handrails are provided on the stairs. We have a chairlift to gain access to the upper floor, but note that not all of the upper floor is accessable by wheelchair.

Toilet facilities are on the ground floor.

On Now: Exhibition "Trip"

For more than 120 years from 1848 the workers at GWR Swindon took a gratis railway journey each year with their families. The superb organisation of this undertaking ensured that even as many as 29,000 people got away in a few hours.
