The GWR 175 Anniversary Prize Draw

The Great Western Railway Company (GWR) was incorporated by Act of Parliament on 31 August 1835. 175 years to the day before this Prize Draw.

In conjunction with Hornby we are inviting visitors to Pendon and to the Pendon website to enter a draw for “Tintagel Castle” – worth £119.

The draw takes place on 31 August and the closing date for entries is 29 August. Only one entry per person is permitted. We will contact the winner before 10th September by email or phone.

Following the draw we will add all entrants to our ‘Stay in Touch’ eNewsletter. We will not share data with any outside organisation.

Exhibition "Trip" from

For more than 120 years from 1848 the workers at GWR Swindon took a gratis railway journey each year with their families. The superb organisation of this undertaking ensured that even as many as 29,000 people got away in a few hours.

‘TRIP’ has been recorded in a book of the same name by historian Rosa Matheson.

The Competition Rules:

Strictly no multiple entries. The closing date for entries is 29th August 2010. The winner will be the first entry drawn after the closing date. There is no cash alternative, and no correspondence can be entered into. The winner’s name will be published on the Pendon website and the winner’s details and photo may be used in publicity associated directly with the Draw. The competition is not open to employees or volunteers of Pendon Museum. The Marketing Director’s decision is final. The winner will be notified by email or phone within 10 days of the close of the competition. The email addresses of entrants will not be disclosed to any third party. By providing an email address as part of the entry to the Draw, each entrant gives Pendon Museum permission to use the email address to contact them with information about forthcoming events at the Museum.
