'Understanding Our Heritage' Talks
Running from early May through to mid July we have a series of four Talks. They explore aspects of the changing Vale of White Horse in 20s and 30s and some unusual and interesting aspects of modelling.
The Talks are:
3 May (afternoon) The Landscape Diorama: An Invitation to Other Worlds
This talk looks at how museum dioramas are planned and built.
22 May (evening) Evolution of Transport in Vale of White Horse
This talk is about all forms of transport in the Vale in 19th and 20th centuries.
26 June (evening) Contrasting Approaches to Modelling Buildings
We have two speakers, one of whom is an expert in modelling for Pendon and the other of whom mass produces model buildings.
12 July (afternoon) Oxfordshire Farming in Peace and War - 1918 - 1945
This talk examines the profound changes in agriculture during the 20th century and explains the underlying causes.

Prize Draw
This year we are running a series of Prize Draws.
The winner of the first of them, which ran from 1 January until 1 April was:

The next prize draw runs until 3 June and the prize is a Day Out at Didcot (kindly donated by Didcot Railway Centre).
The winner will enjoy a day out at Didcot Railway Centre with a guide who will take them round the Centre and ‘behind the scenes’ including some time riding on the footplate of the steam engines.
They will receive a year's membership of the Great Western Society and a souvenir of the visit.
The winner can bring up to two friends or family on the tour for an additional fee of £25 each which includes lunch.
